Buying only ingredients that are in season is a no Buying only ingredients that are in season is a no-brainer: they’re cheaper (because they’re easier to grow at the right time of year), healthier (fewer synthetic inputs means more nutrients), better for the soil (because of said reduced inputs), and minimise your food’s carbon footprint (with reduced food miles).

The US is the second largest carbon emitter in the world: its participation in the world-wide effort to curb global temperature rise is crucial.

Transitioning to the circular economy isn’t just Transitioning to the circular economy isn’t just a matter of the very real waste crisis we face worldwide, it’s also a matter of common sense. If something is wasted, it’s of no use: we are literally creating things that are designed to become useless. Going circular means making the most out of our resources, by giving them an ongoing use.

Do you really need it on paper? Here are a few tip Do you really need it on paper? Here are a few tips to cut your paper waste in 2021:
• Ask stores for digital receipts – good to know, receipts are not recyclable!
• Ask your bank and utility providers to send all future communication by email
• Install a scanner app on your phone – that way you can keep important files either on a hard drive or in the cloud, and the original paper can be reused/recycled/composted.
• Take notes on a digital file instead of paper!

Great news, New York is the latest US city to intr Great news, New York is the latest US city to introduce a ban on glyphosate on State property. As a city of 18 million and an economic powerhouse, this sends a strong signal and paves the way for many more to follow.
Ample research has linked glyphosate to critical human health conditions, the decimation of pollinators, soil degradation and more. In NZ, Auckland Council recently backtracked on an attempt to mandate the use of glyphosate across the whole city (see link in bio). We need more cities and States to lead the way in banning it once and for all and turning to #regenerative alternative weeding approaches. Auckland, will you take the step?

Happy new year folks. Something to remember as we Happy new year folks. Something to remember as we turn the page on a challenging 2020… No amount of policy can reinvent, bend or escape the laws that govern the natural world (i.e. the real world). Let’s make this the year we learn to work with our one and only planet, not against it.
