Watts & Hughes offers a range of construction management services across a broad spectrum of construction sectors in Aotearoa, with offices in five cities (Auckland, Christchurch, Tauranga, Hamilton, and Wellington).
As Watts & Hughes became increasingly aware of the environmental, social, and economic challenges facing New Zealand and the globe, they recognised the need for a sustainability roadmap to guide them moving forward. In 2021, we supported Watts & Hughes in identifying their material impacts as a business, followed by the development of a robust strategy to address these impacts.
On completion of the strategy, Watts & Hughes used our team to deliver presentations to their sites to engage and educate their staff and contractors on the sustainability-related aspects of the build, in line with Green Star requirements.
We also supported Watts and Hughes to measure the base year for their greenhouse gas emissions footprint and worked side by side with their team throughout the verification process, ensuring they felt confident every step of the way. We compiled and provided all documentation required for independent verification by Toitū, and supported the team in closing out all audit findings. Verification reporting included a GHG inventory with full supporting evidence, policy and procedure documentation, and a GHG inventory report in line with Toitū’s verification-only reporting requirements.
