“Go Well has carefully guided us through our carbon measurement and reduction journey over the past two years, offering expertise and support that we simply don’t have inhouse. We are very proud to be certified as Toitū net carbonzero for three years running, and we simply could not have achieved that without the support from the team at Go Well. They are very responsive, know their craft, and truly live the values and behaviours they are encouraging businesses to adopt. They always think outside the square and look to add value to our programme above and beyond their strict remit – sharing best practice and the many learnings they have from their wider work. I’d thoroughly recommend them as a partner.”

– LUCY FULLARTON, HEAD OF CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS, LOTTO NEW ZEALAND

Lotto New Zealand (NZ) is responsible for promoting, organising, and conducting New Zealand lotteries, as well as regulating the conduct and operation of those lotteries, and advising the Minister of Internal Affairs on matters relating to lotteries.  All net profits are transferred to the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board, which is used to support Sport New Zealand, Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand Film Commission as well as thousands of community projects every year. Lotto New Zealand has a turnover of $1.1 billion, employing approximately 138 people who are mostly based in Auckland, with a small number of retail support staff based in other regions of the country. The retail network encompasses 1,549 stores around the country and employs more than 5,000 people, making it the single largest retail network in New Zealand.

Being a Crown entity, The New Zealand Lotteries Commission (trading as Lotto New Zealand) is required to measure and report their greenhouse gas emissions. Lotto NZ first engaged our services in mid-2021 to help them with retrospectively mapping their FY19 and FY20 emissions. On the success of these, we then progressed to helping annually and have completed six years with Lotto so far. All years have been verified by Toitū, and Lotto has gone on to offset and achieve the net carbon zero certification, also with Toitū.

Throughout the process of working with Lotto NZ, we have encouraged them to adopt a robust emissions reduction plan (ERP) that has achieved unanimous board support and encouraged them to offset their emissions – resulting in them achieving the Toitū carbonzero certification. Now, after six years, we will be resetting Lotto’s targets and creating a new reduction plan to take them into 2030.

As they move forward with their Emission Reducation Plan we have been asked to assist them in its implementation. Watch this space!
