Ecostore are an iconic New Zealand FMCG brand that is consistently ranked as a “leader in the area of sustainability” (Kantar Better Futures Reports). Despite their well-earned reputation and the extensive work they have done around their ingredients, emissions, and packaging, Ecostore recognised the need to bring greater structure and focus to their sustainability efforts through a clear strategy and measurable targets. In 2024, they began working with us to help them strategise on their material impacts and set specific and measurable targets for the years ahead. This work has supported alignment between sustainability and their broader business strategy, including market expansion plans.
Building on their strong foundations already in place, we adapted our Year One programme to fit Ecostore’s unique context and level of maturity. We worked with them to develop a comprehensive strategy, then shifted into our Part-time Sustainability Team service to support with implementation. Alongside strategy implementation support, we are working with Ecostore on various reporting requirements (such as APCO, ARL, and ANZPAC), supporting with their sustainability communications, advising them on the B Corp certification changes, and helping to develop their second impact report in alignment with GRI.
Working with Ecostore has been a genuine privilege. As a pioneer in New Zealand’s sustainability landscape, they bring their own expertise and longstanding commitment to responsible business – our role has been to complement that expertise and leadership with structured prioritisation, robust target-setting, and the capacity of a dedicated sustainability team. We look forward to continuing to support Ecostore as they embed and scale their impact in the years ahead.
