"We'd been doing the right things - recycled packaging, Net Carbon Zero certified for years - but we didn't have a clear strategy to take us further. Go Well changed that. Their Year One programme pushed us to ask harder questions while remaining realistic, to get honest about our gaps, engage all stakeholders and aim higher than we'd originally planned. We came out the other side with a clear focus, and a real sense of clarity. Exactly what we needed. And they are simply good people too which always makes the process more enjoyable".

– JAMES PEARSON, CHIEF EXECUTIVE AT 30 SECONDS

30 Seconds® Limited is a cleaning products manufacturer based in Matamata, in the Waikato region. Founded in New Zealand in 1993, they make a range of task-specific indoor and outdoor cleaning products (producing up to 62,000 litres of product per day), sold through major retailers like Bunnings and Mitre 10, and exported to Australia, Japan, and the Pacific Islands. While the 30 Seconds brand originated in the United States in 1977, the New Zealand operation is fully independent, and a closeknit team.

30 Seconds® joined our Year One programme in May 2025. Like many businesses we work with, sustainability was already an important consideration for their business – 30 Seconds® has been Toitū carbonzero certified since 2019 and their 1 Litre product range is made from 98% recycled New Zealand plastic (to name just a few of their initiatives already in place). However, what they lacked was a cohesive sustainability strategy to guide their future roadmap, which is where we came in.

Following our discovery phase, we ran our stakeholder engagement process across five of 30 Seconds®’ core groups: staff, board, consumers, distributors, and retailers. That gave us a more holistic understanding of their business before we put anything on paper. From there, we worked with the 30 Seconds® team to develop a sustainability strategy structured about their seven material impacts, covering everything from their chemical management to how they show up for their people and their community. Since completing their strategy, 30 Seconds® have hit the ground running. They set up a dedicated sustainability committee to drive implementation across the business and have been working with us through our PST service to bring the strategy to life.

Working with 30 Seconds® was a great reminder of how much good sustainability work is already happening in New Zealand businesses, and how much value there is in giving that work a strategic home.
